Kirsten Quanbeck
Assistant Executive Vice Chancellor Director, Title IX/Sexual Harassment Officer
Kirsten Quanbeck is the Assistant Executive Vice Chancellor and Director of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity and serves as the UCI Title IX//Sexual Harassment Officer. She is responsible for coordinating the University's compliance with federal and state discrimination and sexual harassment laws and the University’s equal employment opportunity programs. Kirsten oversees the investigation of discrimination and harassment complaints and provides educational programs for students, staff and faculty. She also coordinates the sexual harassment advisor and peer educator programs. Kirsten earned a B.A. from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, a Master's degree in Education from Saint Louis University in Missouri and a J.D., magna cum laude, from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. Prior to joining UCI, she worked in the Office of Sexual Harassment Prevention and Policy at the University of California, San Diego, and as a staff attorney at Michigan State University.

Gwendolyn Kuhns Black
Associate Director
Gwen Black is the Associate Director of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity. She supervises the development of the annual affirmative action plan and oversees the affirmative action/diversity programs coordinated and offered by OEOD. She serves as a resource for UCI administrators, committees, and departments involved in addressing affirmative action, equal opportunity, nondiscrimination, and diversity issues, and works to ensure that UCI faculty and staff employment policies and procedures comply with all relevant Federal, State, and University equal employment opportunity and affirmative action requirements. Gwen came to UCI in February of 2001 after spending over seven years in Institutional Research & Planning at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from UC Santa Barbara and her certificate in Conflict Management and the Use of Alternative Dispute Resolution from UC Irvine.

Miriam Toffelmier Office Manager
Miriam Toffelmier is responsible for office and database management, budgetary and financial analysis, payroll and personnel, project management, and marketing and outreach. Miriam began her UCI career in 1988 at the UCI Medical Center and transferred to the campus in 1992. Most of her time was spent in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. Miriam served as the Financial and Personnel Manager and Managing Editor of the Anteater Weekly. She received the Diversity Development Series award in 1999 for her efforts in managing the program when it was under Student Affairs. Miriam joined the Office of Equal Opportunity & Diversity in November 2012. She earned her B.S. in Public Affairs (specializing in Public Administration) from USC.

Raid Faraj Senior Investigator / Diversity Educator
Raid (pronounced Rah-ed) Faraj is responsible for conducting formal investigations and informal resolution of complaints alleging discrimination, retaliation, and sexual harassment at the UC Irvine Medical Center and campus, and responds to complaints filed with outside agencies including the Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and the Office of Civil Rights (OCR). He also conducts a variety of presentations and workshops on sexual harassment prevention, nondiscrimination, diversity, cultural awareness, and cross-cultural communication for students, faculty and staff. A graduate of Chapman University in Orange, California, he earned his B.A. in Peace Studies with a minor in Communications and an M.A. in Organizational Leadership. Additionally, he has a graduate certificate in Human Resources from Chapman University and a certificate in Mediation from the Orange County Human Relations Commission. Raid has many years of experience in the fields of peace-making and conflict resolution, cultural awareness, employment law, interfaith dialogue, and community and media relations.

Theresa Gerrior
Senior Investigator
Theresa Gerrior conducts formal investigations and informal resolution of complaints alleging discrimination, retaliation, and sexual harassment. She earned her B.A. at the University of New Hampshire, where she double majored in Political Science and Women´s Studies. She holds a Master´s degree from Simmons College in Gender and Cultural Studies, and a Master of Dispute Resolution Degree from Pepperdine University School of Law. Prior to joining UCI, she worked as a discrimination investigator for the State of New Hampshire.

Janet Prichard
Senior Investigator / Sexual Harassment Educator
Janet Prichard has been with the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity since July of 1996. Janet conducts formal fact-finding investigations of complaints alleging discrimination, retaliation, and sexual harassment. Janet investigates both internal and external (DFEH, EEOC) complaints at the UCI campus, the School of Medicine, and the UCI Medical Center. This formal process involves conducting interviews, analyzing documents, determining a finding of cause or no cause based upon investigation evidence, and utilizing appropriate state and federal laws and university policy. She also researches state and federal laws and legal precedents regarding discrimination and equal opportunity laws and regulations, and conducts workshops on the prevention of sexual harassment and discrimination. Janet is a graduate of UCI twice over. She has earned a Master of Business Administration, focusing her studies on Organizational Behavior, and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Ecology, specializing in Psychology and Social Behavior.

Prany Sananikone
Diversity Relations and Educational Programs
Prany Sananikone facilitates the development and execution of workshops on cross-cultural communication and other diversity topics tailored to departmental needs and campus and medical center requests. He coordinates the Diversity Development Certificate Program and the UCI Orientation and Professional Training program (tailored to limited English-speaking employees) and co-directs the Diversity in Medicine course. Prany also serves as a mentor to students and interns who work with him on diversity programs. Prany attended the University of Hawaii and was awarded a B.A. in Education (specializing in Second Language Education) and a B.A. in Sociology (specializing in Community Development). Prany also earned a Masters in Communication: Strategies and Planning. In 1990, he began working at UCI at University Extension as the Director of Health, Education, and Community Programs. In 1994, he joined OEOD.

Jacqueline Eshraghi
Data Analyst
Jackie Eshraghi joined the Office of Equal Opportunity & Diversity in late 1999. She updates all data and tables necessary for the Affirmative Action Plan and reviews academic search plans and ads for alignment with equal opportunity/affirmative action provisions of UCI recruitment policies and procedures. A long-term UCI employee, Jackie graduated from UCLA with a BA in German/French Language and Literature.

Evelyn Dolores Anderson Administrative Assistant
Evelyn Anderson is often the first-contact person for those doing business with the Office of Equal Opportunity & Diversity. She is the OEOD receptionist and administrative assistant who supports a variety of diversity and nondiscrimination projects. Evelyn coordinates communication with departments related to academic search plans and search activities statements, and posts academic positions under recruitment on the UCI Academic Employment website. Evelyn joined the office in November 2002.
